Going to the theatre with a child that has ADHD/Wanting more compassion

It is Sunday again and today we, my mum, nieces and sister-in-law went to the theatre to see the lion King. The first half didn't go quite well as Henry started to play up and be disruptive and had some moany guys in front, and thanks to them for trying to make a situation worse, it would have been nice if they cared and see that I was trying to keep him quiet, but with kids you can't always help it. My son has ADHD and some people don't understand it, but they can quickly become disruptive.

So in the interval my mum took him outside and we changed seats and all went well in the end.

The world is full of theatre snobs and they will always be there, but if you are like it, remember they are family shows and kids can play up.

Not saying they shouldn't be told to be quiet but is compassion and feel that people don't get it, and I wish they would.

I am not using Henry's ADHD as a excuse but I just wished people would understand it and see that even adults can have ADHD, and that it should be sympathised as noone wants their child be be disruptive but they will and for them people who don't take it seriously I'd like them to spend a day with a child with this issue and then they'll see that as parents we are trying our best, and shouldn't be moaned about.

I used to play up and it is because kids can find it hard to concentrate when they not interested in something,

ADHD does exist and it can be tough to control, and as a parent you do your best, and when they play up it means they need to be doing something else.

For next time I would bring a toy or something he can hold when parts of a show he doesn't want to see, but then people may complain about that, but its distraction. They need many things to do, and my son when at indoors will be play with his tipping point machine, and watch his tablet, then want to play football in the garden and then play magnetic darts.

With a kid that is so energetic its getting control of it, and so many toys you can play when in a theatre.

So just feel that people should talk more about ADHD to help other parents who's child is the same, and if you have any advice please share. You can do this by commenting below.

Many thanks for reading,
