COVID 19 Virus

It has been a testing time this week with the kids all being off and it this week I want to talk about the COVID 19 virus yes I know probably people just want it to be over and forgotten about, but we can't and many celebrity has it.

I will admit I have been a little ignorant myself as I find these times hard to face so I do tend to berry my head in the sand like many of us do, but it is serious and I do think the NHS staff have done wonders so far and so glad they got their applause last night for all their hard work.

With the COVID 19 it time yes I know it is a pain but to be extra hygienic, wash hands regularly and only pick up things you care going to use, and keep washing your hands after using items and before cooking any food.

Do practice social distancing I have written quite a few blogs this week and two I have written have been 10 Daily Habits of Successful people and self doubt and Being stuck in a rut.

The one thing that I find good at these times is watching some good comedy at the moment I am watching Frasier and I have been watching many episodes of Would I lie to you and I wrote a blog on another site about Comedy being the best medicine and it is. It is great to be able to still laugh whilst in remission if you are, and brings people together still.

The one thing I have to say is that I have a good set of people who I am in contact with that help make me smile and laugh and do feel very lucky, it is terrific to have those with a fantastic sense of humour, and music is also great medicine, and my son and I spent some time dancing in the living room together, and planting in the garden, which has been fun too.

There is so much you can do and why not spend time learning a new skill or do a free course of something you have always wanted to learn.

So I wish you all a fantastic weekend, until then many thanks for reading,

Celebrating Mums in our lives/Here's to motherhood

The Parenting Adventures- Baby to Toddler years

It is Mothers Day on Sunday in the UK and I wanted to share my thoughts and advise on being a mum myself.

Being a mum is tricky there are no real instructions and I will hold my hands up "I don't always get it right" but I try and I do my utmost best to bring up and nurture my son as much as possible, and I struggle on some days, but when my son runs up from being at school pleased to see me, it makes it all worth while.

My mum is my mentor and my confident, and I would be lost without my mum. I know there are those that haven't been so lucky and my heart goes out to them, as when you have that love from your mum there is nothing else like it.

The two people I miss in my life is my dads mum and my mums mum. I loved having nan's and when they died they were like two massive chunks of my life gone and knew when my nanny Florrie died that things would change forever as she was the centre point for everyone at one point, and kept the family together.

Us ladies are special it is amazing what our bodies can do, carry another human being inside and keep them protected, and when your child comes into the world you can miss them sitting in your stomach and growing.
You can feel overwhelmed once they are born, as suddenly you have to take responsibility for this little person and it can be a massive culture shock, but rewarding at the same time.

I would not replace my life now, and my son has taught me about life not the other way around. Seeing the world in his eyes and opened a whole new meaning to life as the world is vulnerable, and life is precious no matter what.

So lets raise our glasses and say Here's To Motherhood.

Many thanks for reading,

Being thankful for the music

My thoughts and advice for this week is about Being thankful for the music, because without it I would feel lost as it is a massive part of my life and has been since I was a kid and was very much influenced by my dad, who loved his music too.

In fact on a Sundays he would spend his mornings cleaning his record collection whilst playing some which would sound out, throughout the house.

I live by my music and the first record I owned was Mirror Mirror by Dollar and I loved it, the melody the tune, and it was in my mind for years, along with the Nolan's In The Mood For Dancing and Fame, Remember My Name.

Then Bucks Fizz who I wanted to be in and  the Nolan's and in fact I would often imagine myself in the outfits and even wanted to be in ABBA aswell.

Then I fell in love with soul music, Motown and Disco music. I then later on discovered rock music through friends and fell in love with Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Aerosmith and I loved since I was a kid Cyndi Lauper who I would loved have dressed like, along with Madonna, Pepsi and Shirley and Bananarama.

George Micheal and Queen I play a lot, along with Elton John, Lionel Richie, Micheal Jackson, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross and then came opera, Andrea Bocelli, Il Divo, Sarah Brightman and many more.

I love musicals one being The Sound of Music, and would give my heart to be like Mary Poppins and being the Top Housewife as a comedian.

There are some special people in this world and they are people who create art singers, comedians and actors, because they take us to a different place in the world when times are tough and takes us out of our unhappiness into still believing whats true in the world.

Music and comedy has helped feed people around the globe through Bob Geldof and that is something to celebrate and so I am thankful for music for helping me in times of sadness and troubles, as without it I'd be lost and through these people that have kept me going thank you as your art is special and will forever will live within my heart.

Celebrating World Book Day

My thoughts and advise for this weeks newsletter is about Celebrating World Book Day, celebrating those wonderful stories that so many have written from Harry Potter to Bridget Jones, to Charles Dickens.

Some wonderful tales of the happy and unhappy times. Who can forget The Midnight Garden, with Tom who discovers after he hears the old fashion clock discovers a magical garden.

Then there is Oliver Twist who gets abducted by Fagin, and a Christmas classic a Christmas Carole with scrooge,  bar-humbug.

At my son's school they were celebrating the Jungle Book, which is a classic and tells a story of a young boy who is bought up in the Jungle and looked after by a cuddly brown bear.

Books are wonderful because they take you to a different world and so many films and TV programmes like Lord of the Rings, True Blood and Games of Thrones have all stemmed from someones imagination, or even those wonderful True Stories like Wild. This story is by Cheryl Strayed who took on the Crest Trail in America facing many climates and meeting various types of people on the way.

The greatest thing is that books after everything will never go out of fashion and will always be a fantastic read.

Encourage children to read as it is a wonderful skill and there are so many stories that one will always tell.

Please comment below of your favourite books and what books you celebrated this year I would love to find out.

Many thanks for reading,

Being happy by creating positive outcomes

My thought of the week and yes I suppose I could add this to my other post Building Self Confidence-The Ugly Duckling, but I wanted to add this thought for the week because this year it has been tough so far and needed to share my thoughts on Being happy and what it is all about for me.

Getting to grips with changes has been difficult and any change that happens I find it hard to adjust, but you have to keep going and do what you believe in, of course not involving people getting hurt, but for the right reasons.

I love life coaching through my posts because even though I suffer with mental health problems, there are days when I am happy and through having psychological help too, has helped me to help you.

Being happy is the key to happiness, and it whatever uplifts you can gives you that energy and buzz.

Everyone no matter who they are wants to be happy, it is in our nature, but life as it is can be a struggle, so if you are battling with mental health and find it hard to be happy, then:

  1. Find something new in your life. We can all do with change and variety is what us humans live on as it can be boring doing the same thing everyday
  2. Practice gratitude, go through what you are grateful for, if you run it could be your legs, if you are doctor it is the ability of saving someones life and looking after people. It can be absolutely anything.
  3. Be brutal with your inner critic and shut it down. Say "No I am going to do this today"
  4. Create a daily habit of listening or reading something that empowers you, and gives you that boost of energy
  5. Make everyday count by planning ahead the night before, because when we leave things to the last minute and stress out this can lead us to being unhappy
  6. Be more productive and create one change a day. I love a daily ritual of taking a shower, washing my hair, creating my daily goals and creating positivity within my day. Even cleaning an area a day can still be a ritual
  7. Be unstoppable by having choice free days so you can spend more time with friends and the people that make you happy
  8. Be true. If you aren't in the mood don't go but do what you want for a change. We can get so caught up in making other people happy, that we forget about ourselves and it isn't being in selfish, we need to make ourselves happy too, to continue to make those happy around us
  9. Stop scrutinization and self sabotage. Check out my EBook about this various subject which I have linked on my website Everyone Can Build a Castle.
  10. Create a new pattern. Life to me when happy is like a work of art, because it is all about creating meaning in your day. A purpose, a reason and with that comes a new pattern to a better wellbeing and positive outcome to your day.
